📖 peptide glossary · every term i use, defined

this is the lookup. if u've ever read a diary entry and thought 'wait what does subq mean,' this page is the answer · arranged alphabetically. updated as i add new terms 💖
a-c
BAC water · bacteriostatic water · sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol preservative. used to reconstitute lyophilized peptides. now relabeled USP-grade diluent in compliance contexts.
bioavailability · the % of a dose that actually reaches systemic circulation. topical < oral < subq < IV.
CoA · Certificate of Analysis · the document a peptide vendor provides showing purity, identity, and contaminant testing for a specific batch.
compounding · pharmacist preparation of custom-dose prescription peptides. legal in some US states, not all.
d-l
GAGs · glycosaminoglycans · the molecules that hold water in dermis. hyaluronic acid is a GAG.
GHK-Cu · glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine copper · the tripeptide-copper complex.
IGF-1 · insulin-like growth factor 1 · the hormone CJC/ipa elevates.
lyophilization (lyo) · freeze-drying. how peptides ship · as a white cake in a sealed vial.
m-z
mcg vs mg · 1mg = 1000mcg. peptide doses are usually in mcg.
PDRN · polydeoxyribonucleotide · salmon DNA fragments used in K-beauty skin therapy.
RUO · research-use only · the legal framing under which peptides ship without FDA approval.
subq · subcutaneous · injection into the fat layer just below skin. the standard peptide route.
VEGF · vascular endothelial growth factor · the cytokine that drives blood vessel growth. BPC-157 and PDRN both elevate it.
quick answers
what's the difference between 'recon' and 'mix'?
same thing. reconstituting = adding water/diluent to the dry powder vial so u can draw the dose.
what does 'lyo' mean on a CoA?
lyophilized · meaning the peptide was freeze-dried after synthesis. that's how it gets to u stable.
research-use only · everything below is for laboratory use, not for human consumption · diary content reflects research-protocol logs, not medical advice 💖
